Preventing Mosquito Borne Illnesses
With warm weather comes mosquitos, and they can cause lots of nasty illness, not to mention just plain old discomfort from painful, itching bites. To help prevent this, there are some things you can do:
Avoid being outside during the hours they are most active, dusk to dawn.
Wear long sleeves and pants of a tightly woven fabric when you are outside during these hours.
Use insect repellant with DEET.
Empty containers with standing water (birdbaths, livestock tanks, flower pots, fire pits, etc.) weekly.
Get rid of any old tires you have laying around.
Use screens in windows and doors and repair any holes in them.
